THEY HAVE NOW CLOSED
For many years, Darren and I have discussed changing to a plant planted diet. Beyond the obvious health benefits, the livestock system we have in this country is horrific. It’s just so difficult to get every macro-nutrient you need (proteins, fats) from solely plant sources. We have been agonizing over this decision for years.
Enter Food For Ascension, an upstart vegan restaurant just off 4th Avenue in Downtown Tucson which aims to change the way you think about vegan food.
Food For Ascention is a great vegan restuarant in Downtown Tucson, just off 4th avenue
Because we weren’t familiar with the menu, we decided to try a bowl of squash soup and a few vegan sliders with great vegetable options. Wow. Here is another entry for your bucket list. The squash soup was extremely smooth and had a great tart finish. And don’t get me started on the sliders. Filled with different local and exotic veggies and topped with great local grain breads, these sliders were the perfect compliment to the soup. I would recommend the same combination for any vegan virgin.
The aesthetics of the restaurant must truly be seen to be appreciated. My photos (be sure to check the Food for Ascension photos page) simply don’t do the restaurant justice. From the extravagant entryway the the tastefully positioned art pieces, it is a feast for both your eyes and your stomach. The beautiful and expansive outdoor terrace simply finishes the entire package. Easy access is also provided by the Modern Streetcar so you have no excuse to not make it down to Food For Ascension for your next dinner.
